About
Eden Mulholland is a multi-award-winning Australasian composer whose work is a vibrant tapestry woven across film, television, theatre, and major events. His distinctive, intuitive musical style is profoundly shaped by his unique journey as both a multi-instrumentalist and a former contemporary dancer, allowing him to approach composition with an unparalleled understanding of movement and narrative.
Currently in his fourth year as Musical Director/Composer for WOW (World of WearableArt Awards Show), New Zealand's largest and most spectacular stage production captivating over 60,000 attendees annually, Eden pours his heart into creating immersive sonic experiences. His recent high-profile contributions include the globally televised 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, reaching billions worldwide, and the critically acclaimed BELLE - A PERFORMANCE OF AIR. He also lent his compositional voice to the drama series The Pact and the feature film The Keeper.
Beyond his extensive scoring, Eden's diverse background includes a dynamic past in pop music with the band MOTOCADE, where he performed at iconic festivals like CMJ, Big Day Out (NZ), and Homegrown. This rich experience has further broadened his musical palette, enabling him to push creative boundaries across all disciplines. Eden composes from his Fate Amenable To Change Studio in Brisbane, Australia, or on location.
My sound production sanctuary takes its name from a Culture ship-mind in Iain M. Banks’ Excession—a nod to the boundless curiosity, intellect, and audacity that define both the fictional universe and the creative process itself.
A favorite quote:
"One hundred idiots make idiotic plans and carry them out. All but one justly fail. The hundredth idiot, whose plan succeeded through pure luck, is immediately convinced he's a genius."
This philosophy weaves into my approach to writing music. It’s a reminder to embrace being that so-called idiot—to experiment fearlessly, take bold risks, and trust in the intrinsic value of what I create. Success, I've found, often begins with audacity and the courage to venture into the unknown and a willingness to laugh along the way.
